Hello-World Wins the Squarespace x Contra Challenge

We’re excited to share that Hello‑World was selected as a winner of the Squarespace Challenge, hosted by Contra and Squarespace.

The challenge invited designers to explore Squarespace’s newest creative tools and push the platform beyond the expected. Our response was KŌSA, a concept website for a contemporary artist residency in Tokyo.

APPROACH

Using Squarespace’s native tools, we combined layered compositions, oversized typography and thoughtful motion to create an immersive, editorial experience that captures the energy and unexpected rhythm of Tokyo.

THE CONCEPT

Inspired by Tokyo’s creative pulse, we imagined an experience that feels less like browsing a traditional website and more like stepping into a contemporary art publication.

The visual direction draws from the city’s constant sense of discovery: layered storefronts and unexpected details.

THE RESULT

KŌSA became an exploration of what a Squarespace website can be: expressive, immersive and full of personality without sacrificing usability.

Winning the challenge made the experience even more meaningful. We’re grateful to Contra and Squarespace for the opportunity to experiment, play and create something outside the boundaries of a traditional client brief.
